140701 #Blacky #2
In this manifestation, Blacky starts stroking at the bottom edge of the paper with green paint. She expands the color application toward the middle and the right-hand edge of the paper. She later adds yellow paint and finally produces a fan pattern, which has its center at the lower right corner where Blacky is also sitting. At the end, she lays the brush down on the paper.
This manifestation shows well that Blacky is reacting to the format of the paper as well as to its relation to the position of her body. The fan pattern can be understood as an expansion of her own position in relation to the paper or can even be seen as an abstract adoption of the structure of the nests that chimpanzees build for sleeping.
